Who We Are
Healing For The Soul: A Legacy of Feeding Hope and Strengthening Communities
Healing For The Soul is a New Jersey-based 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to restoring hope, fighting hunger, and improving the quality of life for individuals and families facing hardship. Guided by compassion, innovation, and resilience, we have developed sustainable solutions that address food insecurity while bringing communities together.
Over the past five years, our feeding initiatives have become the cornerstone of our mission. During that time, we have successfully organized nine regional feeding tours, hosted more than 330 feeding events, secured over 90 corporate sponsors and community endorsements, and provided more than 50,000 meals to individuals and families in need.
Our journey began in 2020 when we started selling our signature dish, Murphy's Chicken N Potatoes, as a fundraiser for our church. What started as a simple fundraising effort quickly evolved into something much larger. After receiving FDA approval, our signature meal became the foundation of a growing humanitarian food operation. Today, Healing For The Soul has evolved from a local fundraiser into a recognized food brand, food distributor, and mobile feeding organization operating from five commercial kitchens throughout South Jersey.
None of this would be possible without the dedication of our volunteers, affiliate partners, sponsors, board members, and community supporters. Together, we have built a network capable of delivering nutritious meals wherever they are needed most.
One of our proudest accomplishments has been our commitment to senior citizens. Over the years, we have hosted 18 holiday dining events across three states, providing seniors with a memorable experience that included a five-course meal, dessert, holiday music, fellowship, and companionship. Since the COVID-19 pandemic, our organization has served more than 25,000 hot meals to senior communities.
During the summer of 2022, we launched our Serving Our Seniors Summer Tour, delivering 600 freshly prepared meals every week to four senior housing communities throughout the season, ensuring vulnerable seniors had access to nutritious meals during the hottest months of the year.
In 2022, our Racing To Feed initiative introduced the innovative Heat N Eat program into New Jersey public schools in partnership with the Atlantic County Council of Education Association. Through this initiative, countertop refrigerators stocked with our FDA-approved Murphy's Chicken N Potatoes meals were placed inside classrooms, allowing teachers to discreetly provide nutritious meals to students experiencing food insecurity. During 2022 and 2023, more than 3,500 meals were distributed through this groundbreaking program.
In 2023, the impact of Racing To Feed attracted the attention of a regional television station, which produced a 30-minute documentary highlighting our mission. Filming began as our team served 200 first responders, launching a new chapter of community engagement. Throughout Southern New Jersey, we partnered with nonprofit organizations, housing authorities, municipalities, and community agencies to expand access to nutritious meals. Our mobile food unit also supported after-school feeding events for students in Hammonton, Egg Harbor City, and Buena.
That same summer, Racing To Feed expanded beyond New Jersey with the launch of operations in Asheville, North Carolina, where we conducted six community feeding events during 2023 and 2024 at the Arthur Edington Center. Our outreach also expanded into Delaware and Virginia, where we hosted an additional 22 feeding events, extending our humanitarian footprint across multiple states.
Following the devastation caused by Hurricane Helene in the fall of 2024, Healing For The Soul mobilized into disaster relief mode through our Meals for Asheville campaign. With the generous support of Oak View Group, we utilized the kitchen at the Atlantic City Convention Center to prepare, package, and transport 2,500 emergency meals to families impacted by the storm.
Within just seven days, our supporters helped raise $4,500 to make the mission possible. On October 15, a 20-foot truck departed Atlantic City carrying the meals and arrived in Asheville the following day—just one hour before distribution was scheduled to begin. Our Racing To Feed team successfully distributed all 2,500 meals in less than two hours, providing immediate relief to disaster victims when they needed it most.
In November 2024, following the tragic loss of Sgt. Monica Mosley, our Racing To Feed team prepared and delivered more than 100 freshly prepared meals to law enforcement officers throughout Cumberland County as a heartfelt expression of appreciation and support for those serving their communities during a difficult time.
Building on our commitment to addressing both physical and economic hardship, Healing For The Soul launched Operation Bounce Back Live!! during the summer of 2025. This innovative virtual economic relief platform uses live online broadcasts to provide encouragement, practical resources, giveaways, and financial assistance opportunities while inspiring hope and strengthening faith throughout the online community.
Today, Healing For The Soul continues to expand its impact through innovative humanitarian programs that address hunger, disaster relief, economic hardship, and community wellness. As we look toward the future, we remain committed to creating sustainable solutions that restore dignity, strengthen families, and build healthier, more resilient communities throughout New Jersey and beyond.
